Dear Lucy Hope,
Tonight we went to the same candlelight service at church that
we had attended last Christmas Eve when we first prayed about you. The service
was nice, but Lily Grace, Lia Faith, and Connie were all sick with a cold. We
were also a bit discouraged that we didn’t have you with us tonight. We had
wanted so badly to be able to introduce you to our church family before
Christmas and have you home with us to celebrate the birth of Jesus. So the service was very short for us, with a quiet time of
communion and prayer with the pastor.
We left immediately after that because
all of us were coughing so badly we didn’t want to disturb the service for
anyone else. I’m sorry, but we didn’t get to take a picture for you at church,
but we did take this one at Memaw’s house right after the service.
Then we went
home to wait on Santa Claus. Lily Grace and Lia Faith and Austin love the
traditions that we have to celebrate Christmas. We think that you are going to
like them too. We read the story of the birth of Jesus just before bedtime and
we put out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for his reindeer. Then we all
go to bed, thankful for our family and the love we have for each other. We
can’t wait for you to experience that love as well. It comes from Jesus, so we
think you’re really gonna like Him! Merry Christmas and we hope to see you
soon.
